Kabelsalat

Is the German for cable-salad.  Der Kabelsalat for those of you keen on the articles.

My headache finally went around 1 today.  And so we decided we should have a go at updating my PC.

This proved to be a follish mistake. 

It wasn't just that it was a new motherboard, processor, cooler, power supply and graphics card that made it difficult. It was the documentation.   But we struggled on - attaching really fiddly pins to things stuck in hard to reach corners, occasionally growling at each other, swearing at documentation - for the best part of four hours.

Plugged it in and.... nothing.  Well, very little.  Some LEDs lit up, it sounded like it tried to boot up, and then nothing.  We've obviously not done something quite correctly but without any information to go on, there's no way of finding out what it was.

So there's a bloke coming to have  a look at it on Monday.  I should have just got him to build it in the first place, but I was up for the challenge.

I'm glad I don't work with hardware though.
