Merry Christmas everyone

Lynda and Charlie were not able to come to our Christmas do as Lynda had a very bad cold. However, she had made a Christmas pudding for dessert. I fact she’d made two, one of which they’d eaten on the day itself.

So, along with Dennis and Irene we were recruited to eat the pudding at lunch today. We did have an excellent fish pie beforehand and cheese afterwards, not just the pud!

An excellent day, lots of loud conversation and repetition and ribbing as some of the gathering are rather deaf and were inclined to get hold of the wrong end of several sticks. Storm Georgina was doing its worst outside, the strong winds subsidising during the day but the rain remaining heavy throughout. Water levels remain low in the South East owing to two relatively dry winters with preparations for a drought order in place for the summer. It wasn’t so many years ago that the reservoirs were full to overflowing and the aquifers topped up and running as streams over the chalk dry valleys.
