The Engine Shed

On Friday I joined a group from Stirling Ramblers on a tour of The Engine Shed.

The original building was built around the turn of the 20th century and was used for many years as a military storeroom, and occasionally as an locomotive engine repair shed. It fell into disuse and disrepair in the 1990's before being completely renovated from about 2014 onwards. It is now a learning, heritage and resource centre and is described as Scotland's Building Conservation Centre.

It was a fascinating tour and it was really interesting to see how traditional materials and skills had been used in the Engine Shed's restoration.
