Kaikoura

Kai = food, Koura = crayfish. We are staying in this small town for the night for two reasons - to eat fantastic seafood but also as a small gesture to support to the town after the dreadful earthquake they suffered in 2016.
Just off the land from Kaikoura lies a trench of about 10,000 feet. This is what brings the abundance of sea life to the area. Whales, dolphins, albatross, seals plus can be seen here regularly. We walked out to see the seals - see extra.
Earlier this evening we went out to see the seals and thought to have a seafood supper and to our astonishment we meet a couple we knew from London walking across the road and so enjoyed a meal together with some fine NZ wine.
