Stuff and Nonsense

Day #16 Puerto Quetzel, Guatemala - Monterrico

Another very hot day in the 90's, we didn't have any plans and most of the ship were off to Antigua which was about 90-120 minutes away. We didn't fancy this so just strolled over to the local guides and asked if there were any other options.....not many. I didn't want to travel more than an hour and was looking for something closer to nature.
In the end we found a very accommodating guide who took us on a private tour to a small place called Monterrico where we did yet another  river boat tour around the mangroves.
It was wonderful - just us, the local boat owner and the guide and driver - and all for just $30! We spent 90 minutes on the boat and saw loads of birds - a ton of large white egrets, herons and the like. At the big lagoon we saw some new birds, along with more pelicans.
We had a great day and were back in time for trivia in the afternoon ;)
