... photo. The only one I took today. It was weekly walk time. Once again the weather was kind to us: bright sunshine and no wind. We went to Coustouge -- last seen here -- where we rather surprisingly got stuck in a traffic jam. The council workers were completely blocking the road removing Christmas lights and were not prepared for the sudden arrival of six cars in an otherwise deserted village. Once we'd managed to overcome this obstacle, I assumed we'd do the same lovely walk that S and I had done. But no: first we walked to Jonquières, and then there was a bit of a conflab as our leader decided that with the delay caused by the traffic jam and a walker who after lagging behind decided to give up and return to base, we didn't have time to do the walk he'd planned.

So he made one up. He's a hunter and is from Coustouge, so he knows the place like the back of his hand. The walk turned into a yomp around the garrigue and through pinewoods on, not exactly paths, more gashes in the forest where tractors had removed timber. We got so disorientated we were quite surprised when we saw Coustouge in the distance, immediately after slithering and scrambling down a steep, pebbly slope. G rewarded us with an apero of home-made Carthagène when we got back to the cars -- it was still light, but the supermoon was rising prettily in the blue sky.
