But, then again . . . . .

The Piper.

There was a time when every supermarket had its own brand of sausages and, although the  brands still exist, the price is the same so the quality has reduced in line with inflation. For a while, it was still possible to buy decent ones from farm shops but, eventually, they all went the same way – except:
The first Friday of the month is Penicuik Market Day, though it doesn’t seem to be so well supported as it was when it first started a year or two ago. One of the regular stalls is run by Windsheil Farm, an organic farm near Duns charging organic prices for their mutton sausages (eat your heart out PC). They do sell other sausages but only the mutton variety cut the mustard in the TD household; I wonder how long before they are cheapened into inedibility.

Meanwhile, The Storehouse, the local community owned food co-op, has this montage in the window, presumably by Jan Miller, and the piper is sitting exactly where Santa Claus was peddling his wares before Christmas, I wonder if it’s the same chap.
