The Offending Hairdryer

A few days ago I mentioned that the lead of my hairdryer was getting v hot. So I have bought a new one. Since when, of course, the old one has been performing perfectly and only getting hot in the places you expect it to get hot. Of course Murphy's Law being what it is, if I take the new one back, the old one will immediately pack up.
