Out and about scouting course venues and locations today. There was a definite sense of how man has interacted with this particular valley in the place names:
Calfhowe Crag
Cowsty Knott
Ewes Crag
Goat House Scar
Buck Crag
Hart Crag

My animal favourite for the day however was today's title as I met this inquisitive jovial fellow nearby. 
However the valleys best place name is surely Penegennett which I think is old English for Border Hill or Guard, apt as it stands overlooking the approach to a famous pass. It has a much more famous welsh sounding name sake in Yorkshire... 
I just like how it sounds.
