Witch Hazel

Hamemalis mollis - a great shrub, small tree, for the winter garden.  Planted here not far from the back door where the winter sun shines through the petals.  The foliage gives some shade to plants below that like to be shaded and colours nicely in autumn.

Snow first thing, soon gone.  Sleet later - hung the washing indoors.  An hour in the garden this afternoon before we popped over to the grandparents for a quick visit .... Jamie's insides found his tray bake hard going though and we were there for a couple of hours longer than planned.  Enjoyed our tea - when we got it - all the more for being extra hungry :-)
