Depends on your point of view ...

This peaty pool looked pitch black, sitting surrounded by last year's grass in the hillside forests above the Bishop's Glen. But there was a patch of blue sky right above our heads - no sun, with dusk fast approaching, but this one patch of blue - and it was transformed, not for me but for the camera.

A surprisingly pleasing afternoon very close to home gave me over 11,000 steps of hiking up and down hilly paths between the trees, including one I'd never explored before. Maybe I'll not succumb to February blues just yet...
