Bolton Abbey walk

Last day of our winter break; we packed up after breakfast and left the hotel, and headed to Bolton Abbey where our last walk was planned.   We had time to wander around the ruins of the abbey, and also to visit the priory church there.   Took lots of pictures, so difficult to choose one!

We walked along the River Wharfe to the dramatic Strid, and then had a break for lunch at the Pavilion before retracing our steps back to the Abbey.  Some of our party crossed the stepping stones (not me) before getting back to the coach. There were quite a few herons on the river, and I have loaded on an extra of one.

After changing out of our walking boots etc, we headed northwards and home, stopping at the Carlisle Golf Clubhouse where we had booked a meal to break the journey.

Arrived home around 8pm.

It was a super break, lots of fun, lots of walking too.  The hotel was excellent, and very warm, in fact too warm at times, and had a swimming pool, games room and gym.  We like our comforts!

Home now, always nice to come home, no matter what!
