Bayon Temple

Today's early start paid off. We were able to position ourselves right by the edge of the lake with the sun rising behind the Angkor Wat temple the other side of the water.  Very quickly, the crowds built up behind us.  Although there were no clouds in the sky to add texture, we still managed decent shots (see extra).

After sunrise we wandered around this large and intriguing temple.  It is an amazing structure, but it didn't particularly inspire me photographically (not least because of all the other visitors which made it very difficult to get good shots).

However, this afternoon we visited The Bayon in Angkor Thom which I found much more interesting. These faces decorate the 54 towers in the temple; each tower has four faces looking towards the four main points of the compass.  My shot is not an original idea (that is quite difficult in a much photographed site like this) but does, I think, capture some of the magic of the place.
