Nicky and her Nikon

Subtle colours

It started snowing again last night and this morning it was snowing very heavily with low cloud and poor visibility (see extra) We had planned not to ski as we had a meeting in Lichtenstein, which is only about an hour away. When we recently updated our wills we were advised by our UK lawyer to get a Swiss will done as any asset out of the UK (our Swiss apartment) is not covered by our UK will - hence our trip to Lichtenstein as we had to sign the Swiss wills in front of a Swiss notary, no other way would be accepted.

After our meeting we wandered around Verduz - it is a strange little town, and the Verduz Castle dominates the town by sitting on top of a cliff face above the town. The Lichtenstein royal family still live there so it is not open to the public. I have added an extra of the castle with the frozen vineyards in the foreground.

The boys went skiing but only late in the morning, as the visibility was so poor there was no point going any earlier. This season they have had the best snow in 25 years, and I was told that if it never snows again it will take until June to melt! However, the season still closes quite early, at the beginning of April, and cannot be delayed despite the excellent snow. In this village many of the staff manning the ski lifts and other ski related work are local farmers, and by the beginning of April they need to get back to working on their farms. So a good season does not mean an extended season, although I did hear that the hotels have had a greater occupancy by 10%, which is not a lot considering that this is the best season they have had in such a long time. All that snow means it is colder than usual, which I don't like.

This image was taken in the late afternoon when the low cloud finally lifted and a touch of blue was seen in the sky. Tomorrow the forecast is for sunshine all day, although it is also forecast to be cold at about -14C. We will be skiing tomorrow so I need to dress warmly.
