Kolgrafarfjordur, Snaefell Peninsula

Our last day and we managed to pack so much in.  A few stops on our way back to Reykjavik to take in the scenery, Icelandic ponies, Lighthouses near our hotel, a series of fumaroles near to Keflavik and finally the Blue Lagoon where the seven of us who made it into the pool had a wonderful time.  A lovely way to end the trip.  We finally started to eat just before 10pm - very late for me!

I think this was one of my favourite places in the whole trip - so a big thank you to Viv who'd spotted the parking place.  When we arrived the light was fantastic and the Eider ducks that were singing to one another were simply magical - the only sound in this peaceful landscape.  So different to the day before when we'd tried to go over the pass you can see in the distance and had to turn back because of the blizzard conditions.

Like so many people I've heard talk about their visit, Iceland had definitely got under my skin.
