A LOVELY MORNING AT JACK'S

You all know by now that our usual Saturday morning haunt is Jack’s Bistro and today was no exception.  Martyn, our older son had text us last night asking if we would be there, saying that Josh, our grandson, was home from uni for the weekend, so if they could persuade him to get up with the promise of a breakfast, they would meet us there.

I had reserved a table, but when we got there quite early, it was deserted - being half term, there were no dancing classes, so no Mums and Dads with their children and it seemed as though lots of other people were having a lie-in!  I ordered our coffees from Caitlin and as there were several other young waitresses around, thought it would be a good idea to take a photograph of them - but of course, NOT as part of the Silly Saturday challenge!

First there were three young ladies, then two more wanted to be in on it and then I decided that it would be mean to leave out Jake - and when the chef, Juwan, wanted to know what was going on, we grabbed him too - in fact, all the staff.

So from left to right in the back row, you will see Juwan and Ruby, with Caitlin between Leanna and Shannon and then in the front row, Jake and Sinead.

I said we would miss them all but was telling them that I had watched a programme on television a couple of weeks ago entitled The Coffee Trail, and discovered that most of the coffee we drink actually comes from Vietnam, so it will be interesting to see if the coffee we drink over there will be as good as theirs!  I said I doubted it because I don’t think they have milk like we do in this country, most of it seems to be the long-life stuff, but we would let them know when we get back.  It was a great time, with lots of fun and laughter - and it’s not true that Jake never smiles because he did when he brought our coffee a few minutes later!

We chatted for a while with our friends, Margaret, Trevor, Louise and Gary, all who wished us a happy holiday and then Martyn, Dawn and Josh arrived some time later, after they had persuaded Josh to get up.  Martyn very kindly treated us all to breakfast and coffee and we had a lovely chat about university life, football and our holiday.

Thank you, all you lovely young people - and our family and various friends - take care and although we will miss you, we will have lots to tell you when we get back.
