SPRING IS COMING!

We had a great service at Church with some lovely songs and as it is the First Sunday in Lent, we started a new sermon series (most of which we shall miss, unfortunately) when Stephen preached on “Giving up Control” - there was plenty of food for thought and partway through the sermon we sang this song.

There was a humorous moment, when Stephen’s wife, Christine, who was leading the service, gave the Notices for the week and said “There will be a Lent Group at Christ Church when the subject will be ‘Romance’.”  Well that was what I thought she said and it made me smile!  She actually meant a book in the Bible called “Romans” - but being French, her accent was slightly awry - but it just proves that you can laugh in Church!

When Stephen heard me say that I thought Christine had said “Romance” he rushed out to the front and gave her a kiss - so we all clapped.  If you think that Church is dull, come to ours, we will prove you are quite wrong!

During the service, Christine asked Mr. HCB and me to come out to the front so that we could be prayed for as we go off on our adventures later this week.  It is good to be sent off with God’s blessing and the prayers of our friends.

When we were having coffee, we were amazed to learn that Amy and Gary, two of our friends from Church, who actually come from Hong Kong, will be there at the same time as us, so hopefully we can meet up with them and have dinner together.

After the service, Mr. HCB suggested that instead of taking the car, we should walk up to a nearby park, the idea being that I would get more steps in.   I had seen some beautiful flowers on my way home from Jack’s yesterday, which I told him would be perfect for my Blip today.  Sadly some of the crocuses have been crushed, but they still look beautiful and the gorgeous hellebore was in the garden of a little cottage near the park.  As we walked, we heard so many birds singing - this little robin was quite close to us singing its heart out.  What a blessing to hear the birds and to see such beauty all around us - the flowers and buds are all just waiting for Spring.
