The Singles Ice Skating Event

Always an eagerly awaited event at the Alternative Olympic Games (AOG) the Singles Skating started today in the Northern NJ Stadium.  Not surprisingly, Team Canada Goose is heavily favored to medal in the skating events, and one can see why here.  Just look at Carmen, balancing perfectly on one leg while her competitors look on in awe!  hide their heads in fear!

When I finally stopped by the ice skating arena this afternoon, I found what appeared to be 300-400 members of Team CG, all busy discussing the upcoming weather.  With 3-6 inches of snow expected overnight, they are concerned about how this might affect the skating and swimming events.  One can hardly blame them for being concerned.

Your Intrepid Reporter put on nearly 100 car miles today and 5 human miles covering the AOG events.  I was really hoping for a repeat of Team Snow Goose's Formation Flying.  Sadly, Team Snow Goose was in a snit when I arrived, having been treated to an aerial display from Team Bald Eagle.  Team Snow Goose had to leap from the lake in unison every time Team BE passed over, which left them way too stressed and tired to do any formations today.  And, may I just add that I damned near froze my butt off waiting for something...anything... to happen.  Those geese and eagles couldn't possibly have been any further away and still been in New Jersey!

For a quick peek at the Captain of Team Mallard, click HERE - he is looking rather dapper.

Looking forward to the snow tonight as it means that things in my local AOG Stadium will be very busy tomorrow.

Stay tuned...  And please check out today's amazing AOG performances from around the globe HERE
