Melt Down!

Dear Diary,

Although our temperatures didn't get as high as they predicted, it was still plenty warm with bright sun and blue skies until late in the day. It was such a treat and brought about a lot of melting; you could practically see the snow level fall.

I was a bit worried about this fish house falling into the pond but I suspect the ice thickness is still sufficient to hold it. Temperatures below freezing last night will turn this into a wonderful skating pond today but I have never seen anyone skating on it as long as I've lived here, which will be 23 years this summer.

None of us around here were fooled by the warm respite yesterday, there is plenty of winter left. Now they are talking about a possible snow storm Sunday but we will take the good days when we can and be grateful.
