Sunset

An appropriate sunset on a day of glorious sunshine. We visited the National Trust property at Anglesey Abbey to see the winter garden there - a serpentine walk with a wonderful mix of winter-flowering shrubs, some deliciously scented, strikingly-coloured bark on dogwoods, cherries and brambles and a lovely under-planting of hellebores, snowdrops, cyclamen and aconites, culminating in a dramatic arrangement of ash-white birches.

As it's a weekend it was quite crowded, everyone out enjoying the feeling that despite the cold, spring is asserting itself a little more every day. February is often pretty wet in the UK, but this month has had a lot of dry days, and I'm hoping that when the warmth finally arrives the ground will soon become workable. Then it'll be a very busy couple of months to get everything ship-shape in the garden.
