Daphne

This is a common form of variegated Daphne odora, and like so many other spring flowers this year it is flowering better than ever. The scent too is marvellous as it comes and goes in the air around the shrub. It's by no means fully out yet, but has been flowering for a while and will go on for some time yet. 

There was one large bumblebee, presumably a queen, in the garden this afternoon, but I haven't seen any others. I guess there won't be many until the first generation of workers emerge, by which time the flowering season will really have got going.
