Aftermath

After the daughter delivered the car back in one piece, I whisked her back to hers and then headed up to meet the pals in the Diggery Dogs. For, twas the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup - and it was live on TV! We lose an early goal. We play atrociously badly. We improve in the second half and eventually get a penalty for our efforts, only for ‘The Steelmen’ to score the winner four minutes from time. Thank gawd for that - it avoids humiliation in the semis. One day we may field the same team two games running. But then that would mean fewer players in the shop window which is the real name of the game. Buying and selling.
Still, it was an enjoyable few hours talking the usual nonsense. Home to find that food shortages continue to play havoc with our menu planning. We are forced to roast a guinea fowl! How distressing this all is. Next year we must overwinter somewhere warm. As long as Waitrose delivers there, of course.
