Between fen and mountains

Pumpkin soup

The Spalding pumpkin festival has been and gone, one of the two events which puts the town on the map and from which the council is now considering withdrawing support. One of the benefits of the festival is the easy availability of pumpkins and other gourds. They are on stands outside many houses and smallholdings. Good news as that this means I shall soon have a large supply of pumpkin and butternut squash soup in the freezer.
