Swedish Snow Removal

I have been in Sweden for just over a week and it has snowed on and off for my whole visit. Yesterday it snowed ALL day. I’ve already commented on how well they cope with snow here and how life just carries on as normal. So here you can see three ways of dealing with snow - the bigger snow plow for the roads, and the smaller snow plow for the paths. Both of these also spread gravel for better traction. Then of course there is shovelling - and even Alice does her bit with a little red shovel! ;-)

After Alice’s 11 O’Clock walkies which involved lots of rock jumping and (snow) mountain climbing, we left her at home for snoozing and went into the city for lunch. On the way there we passed by a big square that had been a construction site when I was last here in August. It’s a new and pleasant outdoor space and has several life-sized statues of animals that are often found in the city (See Extra photo). Each one had their very own scarf to keep them warm during these cold days of winter!  Sweet!

For lunch we went to Babettes -a lovely cafe with its own sourdough bakery (see second Extra photo). I had visited last summer and had requested that we go back there this time. We both had the soup of the day - beetroot - and it came with plenty of sourdough bread, cheese, sesame paste and oranges. All very delicious. We both ‘cheated’ on our diets and indulged in a sweet treat with our coffee!  Well worth it!  We can go back to our diets NEXT week!

We’ve been watching a bit of Crufts this evening and were looking forward to seeing our Danish friends blipfriends Emmy and Hero competing there tomorrow in the Heelwork to Music - Freestyle International Competition. They will be on at about 1:10pm, UK time.  Click here for live streaming from Crufts.

For Alice’s version of today, check out her blip here.
