Bell House, Bearsted Green

A day of three halves. I went for a swim first thing, which always takes a couple of hours. A bit of shopping followed then the main meal at lunch time as Doreen was going back home this afternoon.

The second half was taken up with work, further revising the policy and procedures I’ve been writing for a while now. Nearly finished. Getting it formatted, consistent and shipshape still needs to be done. That’s often the laborious bit. Like an artist, when is a painting finished?

In the third half we squeezed in a walk around Bearsted where the evening sunlight illuminated Bell House on the Green. This wonderful house faces north so never really gets sunlight except obliquely.

Bell House is a 16th C house with two additions in late 18th C to the left and the 20th C to the rear. It’s a very fine property. The bell can clearly be seen on the roof. Why it has one I don’t know.

We thought that was it. But for the fourth half I had a little more work to do, Susan was with her mum having a cup of tea and sorting her out. I was called up to deal with a leaking shower which will need a plumber to fix. And so it starts again.

It was gone 9pm when we finally sat down for supper with slices of sourdough bread I’d made by hand (from a packet mix) this afternoon.
