We will never forget ..................

My second day in Lincolnshire with my old college friends.  The weather was terrible with continuous rain so instead of our planned trip to Lincoln we went for a walk around the village where my friends live.

It's the village of Skellingthorpe which had an RAF base in WW2 in common with many parts of Lincolnshire as it's so flat. There's a Heritage Room which has memorabilia from the time but was unfortunately closed.

This memorial in the village is to commemorate the people from the base killed during the conflict. It was a base for bombers in the war and had mostly Avro Lancasters. This beautiful poem is on the memorial. This same poem was blipped by my brother when he went to Kirmington where our uncle was killed in a Lancaster when it crashed on returning from a bombing raid. His blip is here.

We also walked along the old railway line and could see where the runways used to be.
