Every winter we get the odd Brambling coming to the feeders, maybe one a week or ten days.  This year nothing not one until yesterday when Clickychick saw one and I didn't.  Today I was putting down the phone from talking to Katkatkat and picking up my things to leave the house when this appeared.

All winter long my BTO Garden Bird Survey has been devoid of Bramblings and now just when I think they have probably all set off on migration to Scandinavia and beyond this lovely male turns up.

The rest of the day has been a flurry of paper shuffling getting ready for tonight's meeting and an AGM on Tuesday,
