Bold nuthatch

We woke up to a couple of centimetres of snow, though because of the wind it was fairly patchy. I dithered about going out, as the sky was leaden and it looked bitterly cold, but in the end I couldn't resist one last chance of a walk in the snow.

I parked at Thorpe Wood and then walked down through Ferry Meadows to the bird hide. There are several locations where people regularly put out bird food, and today this log was a magnet to a wide variety of songbirds, including a pair of nuthatches. This one seemed very pleased with his peanut!
