Rocky Mountain Moments

Serendipity

We went for a walk today at Golden Ponds and we passed a man (Dave) sitting at a picnic table playing the guitar.  He was facing away from me but I took a  few shots anyway.  After walking about 10 minutes I remembered I had left something in the car so I went back and this time I stopped and asked him if I could take his picture.  He was happy to oblige and turned and smiled but I told him I wanted a candid of him playing.  He asked what I wanted to hear and I said "Me and Bobby McGee".  I don't know why it came to my mind.  He was a little surprised because he said it was his late wife's favorite song.  He said I would have to sing with him because he didn't know all the words.  So he played and I sang and he harmonized.  It was so cool!!  While we were singing, I snapped away.  There were so many good shots but this was my favorite.  By this time Piper and her dad had come back to see what was taking so long.  So we visited a few minutes and went on with our walk.  When we finished our loop we found that three other people with guitars had joined him for what Dave called a "Community Jam".   My extra is Katie who is 16 and an amazing musician.  I would have stayed all afternoon but my walking companions were anxious to get home.  He said they are there every Sunday and invited us back. :-)

So, that was the happy part of the day.  I spent the afternoon with my daughter who was so very said about her dog, Chico.  He has really gone downhill this past week and she has decided that the time has come to put him out of his misery.  She was waiting for her husband to get home so they could decide when to plan it.  There is a vet who will come to their home, so that will make it a little easier.  My heart hurts for her :'(

I am grateful that I could be there to comfort her today.
