Spa Town

Monday was an interesting day.

Lots of people came into the office for all kinds of reasons, and for a change none of them were difficult to deal with. Productivity wasn't wonderful as a result of so many interruptions, but with an "open door - no appointment" policy, that's the way it goes sometimes.

One visitor was a very pleasant young man who's had housing and antisocial neighbour problems. We tried to help. Miroslav came in to tell us he's off to Slovakia for a month to get away from the stress of it.

Turns out he's from Trenčianske Teplice, and he was astonished to find out I've been there - the Ministry of Justice had a re-education training centre there in the 90s. It's better known as a spa town.

I remember it was a long trip home on the Friday afternoon after a tough week. 2 hours in a minibus back to Bratislava, then an hour by car to Vienna Airport for a flight to Brussels. I think I had to stay overnight there and get a flight to Scotland on the Saturday.

Another surprise trip down memory lane.

The Blip is from my morning walk to the office. A beautiful, clear, blue sky but still only 2⁰c. The building is the town museum and library.
