Marjorie's ramblings

The passing of time

I was early in Corbridge this morning for my eye appointment so I wandered through the churchyard and took this image. I like these old gravestones that stand close together.

Reading memorials always raises questions. The nearest one here is for a 2 year old called John Green who predeceased his 16 year old sister. Where are the parents, Joseph and Jane? Why are they not buried here? I'll never know.

Autumn, of all the seasons, speaks of change and the circle of life and death. It won't be long before all the leaves have fallen. My front garden was covered in a carpet of ash leaves today. The beech leaves fall later.
