Botanic Gardens

We risked the Botanic Gardens because the rain had stopped and found the lovely warm glass house. Bet this was busy yesterday. In the Christchurch museum we visted the "Original Peoples" exhibition and the Antarctic Exhibition.  Both very interesting. Extra of one of the earliest vehicles used on the Antarctic continent by the Shackleton expedition. The display tells of it travelling at walking pace and suffering constant breakdowns. The men ended up towing it and were relieved when "the embodiment of mechanical perversity " was abandoned in Sept 1915. It was retrieved in 1957 and  returned to New Zealand from where the expedition had started.
