Processional Cross

The head of the professional cross in the Cathedral of The Isles is a magnificent thing. It’s a heavy thing too, so anyone bearing it has to be resolute and careful - I’ve seen an unwary crucifer catch the cross on the crown of candles above the choir and set the candles guttering madly. And it shoogles on its pole, so balance is essential. But I love it, and it’s part of a place that is very important to me.

And it’s an excellent image for the season.
