Stratford Carillon

The clock tower is a focus of attention three times a day when, we were told, the carillon plays and we made sure we were in position to witness the event.
I wish I could tell you the story behind the various openings and closings of doors in the tower, revealing a lady or gentleman, but the commentary was drowned by passing traffic and a road sweeper lorry determined to complete his task with great thoroughness.
However, this did not spoil the occasion as we could almost guess plot and the characters so convincing - I assume their final appearance on the balcony as he offers her a red rose, as in the blip, sealed their relationship - think Romeo and Juliet.
The show lasted five minutes, before the audience of two couples dispersed with contented smiles.
