Pieris

This photo has come out on the pinkish side, but in fact the leaves of this pieris really are this colour. I think the pink flowers and brick background aren't helping though. The flowers are very delicate and have a waxy look that is a bit unreal. A large pieris in full flower is quite a sight, but this plant has got only a single flowering stem. It's been too long in compost that has become alkaline over the years, and needs repotting into fresh acid compost if it's ever going to recover its former glory. Another job for the list. 

The weather's brightening after a sodden morning, but the cold seems to be on its way back too, just to try our patience.
