Quod oculus meus videt

Caught by First Light

A frosty morning, due to the clear skies overnight.  Cloud had filled in as sunrise approached and in the end delayed the first beams of sunlight bathing the earth on Cannock Chase.

I'd forgotten my gloves and was suffering for my art, regularly swapping hands carrying the tripod so I could dip the other into a pocket to warm up. The western side of the Sherbrook Valley is predominantly heather, with just the odd small tree punctuating the area.  This shot captures a few, looking north east towards Devil's Dumble.
