Ammunition dump?

Today is Good Friday. We used to have a Good Friday walk in the village with people dressed up together with a donkey to re-enact the account from the Bible. It hasn't happened for a good few years though.

F and I did part of our allocated area for the curlew and lapwing surveys in an area close to Oswestry. Unfortunately we don't have a good area for it. We had to walk along a tiny track that was thick slippery mud well churned up by off road motorbikes - probably the only users. The land isn't suitable habitat for our target species being short grass on one side and woodland on the other.

One good thing is that the Military Firing Range on our patch is no longer in use.  The blip is of a hut a distance away from the range which we think was their ammunition dump. Ammo dumps have thin roofs above thick usually windowless walls so that if there's an explosion it will be the weakest area and the blast will go skywards rather than sidewards through the walls. This one looks as if it's been out of use for a long time.

The river at the back is the River Cynllaith which marks the boundary of out survey area as it's the border with Wales.
