Simply a cowslip

A warm spring day at last, but this didn't stop the countryside looking very wintry. After lunch I went out to Barnack Hills and Holes to see how the pasqueflowers were getting on. Most were still tight furry buds, with only two plants on a steep west-facing slope having any flowers at all. There were plenty of hairy violets, but the cowslips were only just coming into bloom. It's going to be at least a couple of weeks  before it's looking its best.
