Leaving Rio

We woke up to torrential rain!
Proper monsoon like rain!
The world outside was gone and it was even a bit chilly!

We spent the morning to finalise packing and decided then to go to Lapa to get a shave for Neil. We had located a Barber there 2 days ago with an interesting decoration featuring skulls!
We took the bus and had our umbrellas with us - much needed!!

We found the Barber shop again and Neil got a shave. Then we went for a coffee in the Lapa Café which looked nice when we passed it a day ago.
A quick stop at the supermarket and then we took the bus back up the hill and got off in Santa Teresa Centro where we went to our regular, Café do Alto.
It had stopped raining in the meantime, and the sun came out a bit,

We had a late lunch then took a taxi home, showered and finished packing.

We wanted to leave for the airport at 5 pm and brought our cases up the stairs and called a taxi. Being a bit off the track was making this not too easy, but after 20 min we had found an Uber that collected us.
At the airport we checked in and got told it was a full flight. They moved us in the first row with more leg space.

We spent an hour in the lounge for the last caipirinha and some food then boarded our flight to Amsterdam.
I was not happy with the seats as in the first row you cannot remove the arm rests up, so I could not cuddle on Neil.
However 3 sleeping pills got me over it.

I am posting a happy Neil at Café do Alto, waiting for a big plate of food.
The Extra is the "Bar Bearia" in Lapa where Neil got a shave.
