Colinton Dell or a big long RANT!!!

So the 'short' version of my BLIP today would be – Went to Colinton Dell, had a lovely walk, got a bit muddy, did a bit of splish, splash, sploshing in the river, came home, fell asleep. The end!

However sometimes my owner (the very lovely Ann) needs to have a bit of a RANT!!!

Does anyone know how long a battery operated smoke alarm bleeps for when it's battery is running down??? And please don't say 'google it'. She has and still has no answers. Grrrrrr.....

Soooooo......................... for more than two weeks our 'wired in electric smoke alarm' has been bleeping. Thought the 'back up battery' might be failing so contacted our 'very lovely local handyman' to come and change the battery cos Ann is a bit stupid we didn't have a clue how to get into a 'mains smoke alarm.' 'Very lovely local handyman' changed the battery a couple of Saturdays ago and off he went. I went out for my walk. When I came back a few hours later it was still bleeping. Grrrrrrrr......................

'Very lovely local handyman' came back. 'Very lovely handyman' couldn't understand why it was still bleeping so said it must be the smoke alarm. He purchased a new one and then came back an hour or so later. Fitted it and the bleeping continued. Grrrrrrrr................

Long story short....................

After spending about 3 hours in my house trying to find out why my smoke alarm was bleeping, and after purchasing a new electric smoke alarm and new batteries (& charging my very lovely owner, Ann, £94 for the priveldge) ............................... It turns out that our 'ex-very lovely builders who refurbed the flat in 2016' didn't bother to remove the battery operated smoke alarm on the ceiling before they put in a false ceiling to put in the LED lights.

................And don't say, 'contact the builders who did the work' because this was one of the last jobs they did and they're in retirement now.

So for more than two weeks we have had a battery operated smoke alarm that is bleeping cos its batteries need changing but we can't get to it unless someone takes down the ceiling??!! To be honest, it doesn't worry me because I'm going a bit deaf in my old age so I don't actually hear the bleeping. And Ann has got used to it now! However, we're heading back down to Cornwall soon and will be renting out our flat and we're pretty sure 'constant bleeping' would annoy visitors.

So Calum (our very lovely handyman) came back, cut a hole in the ceiling, removed the offending smoke alarm and now life is quiet once again.

And if any of you lovely Blippers want a mini break in Edinburgh, we've reduced the price of our flat to super cheap prices for the rest of April so check us out here.

OK rant over!
