The Crowd

When all at once I saw a crowd,My heart sank!
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Muttering and snapping in the breeze.

Apologies to William Wordsworth.

This is the very place that in April 1802 that Dorothy and William Wordsworth were walking when they were amazed by the sight of the daffodils.

Today we needed to visit the lodge so we took a detour to the lake. I'd noticed the daffs here earlier in the week and I like to record them every year in my journal.

Fortunately The Man and I had got most of the shots we wanted when we noticed the large group of walkers on the other side of the road. As I've never been unfortunate enough to encounter so many tourists here in previous years I thought they give me a different blip and would fit in well with the poem! They wanted to take photos, too, they all had their phones out taking snaps.
