Life from a City

Goodbye Berlin

On our last day in Berlin, it seemed appropriate to post this, one of the children in a statue about the kids who left Berlin, either to escape to other countries, or to concentration camps. Those in the statue go two separate ways. The fact that it was raining makes this more poignant.

We had to be at the airport for half three (arrived at ten to four - straight through and on the flight, even upgraded to priority boarding and a better seat). This morning we went round the Deutches Historisches Museum. We started in the new part - attached picture - and went round the exhibitions on the German virtue of saving and the Russian Revolution. Neither of which we were allowed to photograph. Then toured the German history part. Outside, we visited the Memorial and walked along the Spree.

Home safe now.
