Aylesford Friary

I’ve lived down here for over 40 years and never been to the Aylesford Priory. We decided to visit a farmers market in the Priory grounds and stayed on to look around at the Carmalite monastery next door. And what a fine place it is and will repay a further visit. The monastery was founded in 1490s; many a monk must have passed this way over the centuries.

We cycled to the market along the recently refurbished Medway Path with runs from Aylesford to East Farleigh, giving several miles of flat cycling alongside the river.

The evening was spent in the company of Feast of Fiddles on the occasion on their 25th anniversary tour. We’ve been to a good many of their concerts over the years and tonight’s was up there with the best.
