changing places

This may not look like a very exciting photo, but the Changing Places toilet is an important feature of The Usual Place cafe.
Thousands of people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, as well other as disabilities that severely limit mobility, cannot use standard accessible ("disabled") toilets.
Standard accessible toilets do not provide changing benches or hoists and most are too small to accommodate more than one person. Without Changing Places toilets, a person with disabilities and limited mobility is put at risk, and families are forced to risk their own health and safety by changing their loved one on a toilet floor.
.You can read Brody's story about how a similar facility at Kirroughtree Visitor Centre (also in Dumfries and Galloway) has made such a difference to him and his family.

At The Usual Place, we are proud of our Changing Places Toilet and of the fact that it is part of our ethos to be accessible and inclusive.
