Whatcom Falls After the Rains

We've had one of the wettest springs for a very long time. Recently it's rained and rained and as a result Whatcom Creek is full and tumbling down over Whatcom Falls. It's a beautiful sight and wonderful sound. Shelly and I took a short walk along the bridge that crosses the creek below the falls. This beautiful bridge was guilt by Works Progress between 1939 and 1940. (Check out the extras.) It is an example of what can be done by a nation when the going gets tough for its people. Quite a contrast with the way our current government is going. Today: reward the rich and abandon the poor. Then: create jobs for the poor that will benefit the country. This bridge will be here long after we are all gone and is a testament to the way a country can act toward its people.

After our walk I took Shelly home so he could take a long walk with his men friends. Meanwhile I shopped and have time to play with my photos from today. You can see more at Chaikins of Bellingham.

This evening I'm heading back to Shelly's for dinner of borscht he made and then we are going to a piano concert at Western Washington University... making this another good day.
