Celandines around a tree

The promise of another fine day materialised as we basked under blue skies and warm sunshine. What a change from last week. All around you can almost hear buds exploding and plants shooting as they scramble to make up for lost time.

We had a walk to the garden centre to buy a new rake and have our free monthly coffee. No need for a coat today. There were plenty of people there, not many in the shop, they were all in the cafe.

We sweltered in the afternoon taking down a drunken pyracantha which was leaning threateningly over the pond. Had it fallen in those viscous spikes would have done for the pond liner. Got the root out too. Not sorry to loose it, hardly gave any berries, was a bit of a thug too growing rapidly skyward each year and painful to prune.

Being a Wednesday we went our separate ways for our musical events. Susan to guitar me to the Folk Club where we had over 30 people turning up. I sang Jake Thakray’s “Brother Gorilla”. No uke song this time. I wanted to play Runrig’s “Book of Golden Stories”I can’t get the tune right when I sing (yet)
