running out of steam

...another mixed weather day that resulted in plenty of shower dodging and mud skating, but we cannot complain because we saw a few sunny breaks when we had braced ourselves for continuous rain.

I had loosely set myself a target of blipping wildlife (particularly invertebrates) until the end of October, however, after today's hours of searching to find just one subject, the last two days may prove too much of a challenge.

I have blipped one of these before only, last time, it was rather beautifully covered in the condensation of fog. In fact, that image has proved to be my most popular so far. This specimen is somewhat drier. Just as a reminder, this is the larva (caterpillar) of the Oak Eggar Moth, Lasiocampa quercus. Unfortunately, it is a heavy crop as it was out of reach in an awkward position.

From Thursday, or possibly earlier, I will start shooting more general subjects but continue to focus on nature as and when the opportunity arises...
