Red-tailed hawk

Sunday
A good morning at church, then home for lunch and a couple of phone calls with family, then we drove over to Fernald to do some bird watching and go for a walk. We stopped at the first pond, where there were several birders, a couple with their seriously big lenses! We got talking to one of them, a very friendly and informative guy, who was telling us about several other good spots for birding. We then drove over to the visitor Centre where the trail begins, passing this red-tailed hawk on the way. The red-winged blackbirds were out in force along the trail, and we saw several eastern bluebirds. By the time we got home, there was just time to change and have a quick cup of tea before going out to a concert at Calvary Episcopal Church down in Clifton. I had heard about the concert on WGUC, our local classical radio station, earlier in the week, and thought it sounded good. It featured a couple of ensembles, one of them the Cincinnati Fusion Ensemble, a professional performing ensemble, founded in 2013 by Howard Helvey who is the Music director at Calvary, and a well-known and established composer of choral music. The concert was followed by an excellent reception, so a good evening out!
