Evans and Aboriginal

In our park we have some impressive statues. This one is of Evans and an Aboriginal man. The plaque says “Commemorating discovery by Evans of the Bathurst Plains and opening of the west. 1813”

Patriotism is the ideology of attachment to a homeland. I wonder how the Aboriginal person felt at the time. The Aboriginal people were not counted or allowed to vote until the 1960s even though they lived here for 60,000 years. There is work being done to put recognition of the traditional custodians into our constitution but we haven’t got there yet....

Food for thought. I wasn’t sure how to depict Patriotism which is the MM challenge this weeks. Thanks Chantler63. Maybe I should have done a recent one on chocolate as it seemed easier.
