An Audience of Chairs.

This scene reminds me of a wonderful book I read a couple of years ago....An Audience of Chairs, by Joan Clark, which takes place in Baddeck. The main character is quite crazy and one of the things she likes to do is set up all the chairs in the living room, and play the piano (which is actually a piece of cardboard with keys drawn on them!) to her non existent audience. It is a bitter sweet tale of mental illness....and of course there are some hilarious moments too! But one of the lovely things about it is it's description of Baddeck and all the familiar places there!

Terry has been building these lovely benches this past summer! At the moment i'm imagining the non existent audience watching the flowering broccoli dance next to the very rooted brussel sprouts, and the emptiness of the garden.

It's a dreary day here, quite chilly ..... but at least we're being spared all the drama of the effects of Sandy!
